Topic: XTREME REACTION
Wetin una dey react against?
We have discovered that it is very easy to conform to the standards and thinking of this world. As a matter of fact it is seems almost natural to follow general ways of thinking and behavior that we exposed to in this age. Wrong information that we have absorbed from family, friends or our community has caused a state of thinking, and therefore living, that is totally contrary to the will of God for our lives. There is a need for a total and complete paradigm shift.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction (Newton)

There is a need for action, a need to react to the world’s pattern of thinking and living. We need an XTREME REACTION.

How it all began
Long ago in a far away land, there lived a man named PP (just kidding I’ve always loved telling stories). As I was saying, sometime ago Pastor Poju saw Mokut and Toun dancing (dancing terribly if I might add) on stage after service and the idea to organize a concert was formed. The purpose of the concert was that (in his own words) “young people, being naturally very creative, have a need to express themselves”. I guess he believes the church has a responsibility to provide the avenues of expression. He got together a few of us “young” peeps, told us about this vision and then allowed us carry out the task of organizing the first concert. The remaining, as they say, is history

Crew Xtreme
Crew xtreme is a group of young members of the Covenant Christian Center (with the exception of a few egbons among us e.g. Chaz and John). Our primary purpose is to serve the Lord by fulfilling His purpose - showing the whole world proof of His love through His abundance that is manifested in our lives. The crew is committed to bridging the gap between the church and this present generation of youth. We know that within each member of the crew there are various God-given talents and gifts (mostly unknown and untapped) and all our activities are really just based on revealing that which lies within. We also want to show young people like us that although the Christian life is one of serious commitment to God, it doesn’t have to be boring. Christianity is a lifestyle that involves peace and joy so it is possible (and biblical) to be Christians and still have a lot of fun (to rejoice in the Lord!). It is important though to state that the concerts and other church activities that we are involved in are not to be mere “religious” exercises but rather one of the ways through which we serve God and share His gospel.

We share a strong bond of trust and friendship which helps us share our experiences and the success we have achieved in our lives with a view to understanding the underlying principles that brought them about (“cause and effect” as D. Edwards would say). We believe that as we come together to share our victories, we create the opportunity to learn from each other and more importantly we create the opportunity to offer up genuine thanksgiving and praise to God, thereby partaking in the blessings that others have received. Being members of CCC, we are privileged to hear vital and timely teachings on God’s will for our lives, the power that He has given to us to accomplish His will, and also the principles and operation of His Kingdom. We believe that we are the proof of Pastor P’s teachings and not just hearers but doers of the Word producing positive results in every area of our lives.

The Word works in us cos we work the Word

The concerts
The first concert, Extreme Reaction – experiencing Christ, (ER I), was held in March 2005, and it was a major success. We invited groups to minister through songs and dancing and even acted our own short dramas. Everyone had fun. After this first concert pastor P decided to turn extreme reaction into a trilogy.

ER II – unfinished business, was better-planned; a lot more time, effort and creativity was put into its organization and with more people involved we came up with better concepts and eventually invited less outside groups. Crew Extreme performed short dramas, songs and dances. The concert was by far more successful and left an even greater impression on the minds of the youth.

The concluding episode, ER III – hall of faith, would be held sometime in 2006 and this time we’ll really like you to be a part of it. It’s gonna be crakalakin, for shizzle (translation for the spirikokos – its really going to be fun)
